Amsterdam-Prior to SAS

We flew from Barcelona to Amsterdam which took awhile because our flight took a long time to board. This may be biased but DIA is my favorite airport ever—even though sometimes the security lines are very long I just feel the overall process and layout of the airport is efficient. But we got to Amsterdam and my mom and I went to the FedEx center near the airport to ask about my bags. They got sent back to the US. So our plan ended up being where we bought all my toiletries in Amsterdam and then my wonderful parents will be shipping my clothes and some other miscellaneous items back to Lisbon, Portugal—my first port city. Because again, I do not need more clothes!! And I think in the end it is more cost efficient.

When we got to Amsterdam we walked to our hotel which was very close and we went to dinner that night at a place that had gluten free pizza and pasta. I had a delicious white sauce pasta with shrimp—seriously, so delicious! We then did a Red Light district tour which was very interesting learning about the history of one thing that has made Amsterdam well-known.

The next day we woke up and had a late morning and then my mom and I did a ton of shopping and then we had Dutch pancakes for lunch which were again, delicious. We then did a bike tour around the city—it was very fun but very stressful biking there. We then did a canal cruise which was nice and I do wish that was longer as all you had to do was sit and look around while drinking rose. We then had dinner at a Thai place!

Then my last full day we did more shopping, I got my hair cut and then just relaxed and I focused on repacking everything. We ate at a delicious Mexican restaurant that night. Wow! I say “delicious” a lot and you will most likely see that word a lot more in my blog posts because I am a foodie and almost all the food I eat is…. You guessed it, delicious!
